Boo Boo Central!

Last night after the Easter Egg Hunt and dinner Bennett was playing while we cleaned up the kitchen.  He fell on our hardwood floors and I didn't think much of it considering it isn't out of the norm for him to fall down.  He got up and walked over to the wall and didn't cry or say one word, so I assumed he was fine until he walked over to me and I saw blood dripping down his leg.  I have no idea what he hit but he has a long skinny cut almost the length of his knee.  We got him cleaned up and he was on his way.  This morning he was playing and hit his chin on a table which caused him to bust his lip.  This time there were tears but I quickly got him cleaned up again and he was fine.  I kind of thought to myself is this going to come in 3s or are we done with boo boos.

He had his sports class today and we left there without any injuries!  After class we went to the park with his friend Kennedy.  He was chasing Kennedy around and of course he wiped out.  He started crying so I ran over and he had re cut his knee and then I noticed he was bleeding out of his mouth.  He had scrapped up his upper lip and chin.  He refuses to wear a band aid so I am hoping he doesn't keep hurting his knee.  I guess with a little boy I will have to get used to a lot of cuts and bruises!  I am just hoping I don't see anymore blood from my child for a few days.  Three times in 24 hours is enough for now!!

Easter Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood had it's annual Easter Egg Hunt today.  This year they split it up so the little kids had their own earlier in the day and the big kids went later on.  Pop Pop was able to join us, so Bennett was happy that Pop Pop was there!

Scoping out his competition :)

Getting ready to go!

Off to get those eggs!

So exciting!

He stopped looking for eggs and sat down to start pulling out all of the candy

When we got home Bennett kept asking for us to open all the candy.  He thought he was going to get to eat all of it in one sitting.  I had to hide it from him and will pull it out one piece at a time for him.  Of course I had to eat the candy that would be a choking hazard for him.  Oh the pains of being a parent!

Sweet Memories

Having a 2 year old definitely has its challenges.  Bennett is throwing his fair share of tantrums and he has strong opinions on pretty much everything.  This can make bed time interesting.  Some nights he fights us on everything from getting dressed to even reading a book before bed.  Tonight was such a sweet night with him though.  I put him to bed tonight so we read Curious George, of course.  When we were done reading I turned out the lights so we could rock.  While I rock him we will pray and sing songs.  Tonight we prayed and we are teaching him to pray with his hands clasped and eyes closed.  After we prayed he asked to pray two more times.  I know he only wanted to keep praying because he thought it was fun to keep clasping his hands together but it was so sweet to hear him ask me to pray again.  Tonight he was very interested in talking about the baby too.  He kept rubbing and kissing my belly then he laid his head on my belly.  Lately he hasn't paid much attention to my belly so it was cute seeing him more interested.  We also sing Jesus Loves Me and our ABCs every night and he is starting to learn the words to the songs.  I love hearing him sing and try and learn the right words.  I wish he could stay this way forever!

I just wanted to document our sweet bedtime routine while it lasts.  I am sure before I know it he will be 13 and I will wish he wanted me to sing to him before bed.

Helping Daddy

We have had a great weekend so far.  Last night Jeremy and I were able to go out with some friends and enjoy a fun night out.  Today the weather was beautiful so we let Bennett play outside all day and decided to do some Spring cleaning and organize our garage.  With the baby coming we are trying to get everything in order.  While Jeremy was working in the garage Bennett pulled out his "tools" to help Jeremy work.  I was telling Jeremy that I really feel like Bennett has turned into a little boy overnight.  The way he talks to us now and tells us things just blows me away.  I can't believe how fast he is growing up!

It was a nice, productive day and I enjoyed watching the boys work away in the garage.  Before we know it Bennett will be able to get out there with Jeremy and actually help.  For now it is fun watching him pretend.

Sports!

I signed Bennett up for a 10 week sports class.  They teach the kids about t ball, soccer, basketball, and football.  They group the classes by age so he is in a class with about 9 other 2 year olds.  I thought it would be another good activity for him and get him interested in learning about sports.  Luckily my friend Hether signed up her daughter Kennedy for the class too.  Since Bennett is more on the shy side I figured he would be apprehensive about going into the class today and I was right.  It really helped that his friend Kennedy was there with him.  Hether kept peeking into the class for me to see what Bennett was doing and pretty much every time she looked in he was right by Kennedy's side and the teacher said at one point Kennedy went over and patted Bennett on the back to make him feel better.  There was another kid in the class who screamed his head off the entire class except for the last 5 minutes so I was afraid that wouldn't help Bennett.  It is almost like another crying child makes Bennett feel like it is ok to cry but luckily the other kid didn't really affect him.  I am glad Bennett participated in class and seemed to enjoy himself.  I am sure as the weeks go on he will be fine especially since he has his friend Kennedy by his side!

Laying down on the couch.  He was so tired!

I didn't get any pictures of him in class because I didn't want to risk him seeing me peeking in and start crying.  Maybe I can try it later. I wish I could have seen him today.  At one point Hether looked in and he was running around smiling.  The teacher taught them how to run bases and soon he will learn how to throw and hit the ball.  I am hoping next week he enjoys class again.  I asked him when we left if he wanted to go back and he said YES

Ella turns 2!!

Yesterday my sweet niece Ella turned 2 years old!  She had the cutest Minnie Mouse party and my sister out did herself with the decorations.  I wish I had taken pictures of all of the cute things my sister made because it looked so good!  There was also a bounce house with a slide so all of the kids had the best time. The weather couldn't have been more perfect so everyone played outside the entire time except when it was time to eat.  I can't believe Ella is already 2.  She is so cute and sweet and I am glad we were there for her special day.

Bennett really enjoyed his cupcake!

Bennett loved jumping around and had so much fun.  He was having so much fun that when we put his shoes on to leave he ran back out of the house to get back into the bounce house so he could stay longer.  He threw a bit of a tantrum once we left but I really can't blame him!  Happy Birthday Ella!  We love you so much!!

20 weeks!

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 20 week checkup and ultrasound.  They did confirm we are having a boy and the baby quickly ensured we saw that he is all boy!  There is no doubt about it!!  He was very active and looked so sweet.  In all my ultrasounds he has had his hands up by his face or forehead and it is so cute.  Luckily we received all good news regarding his health and growth.  He is measuring exactly to my due date right now.

When we had our 20 week ultrasound with Bennett we got some unsettling news and were sent the next day to a high risk doctor.  They thought I had an animo band which would have constricted his growth and a blood clot or calcification on his liver.  That day was not much fun.  We were so excited to find out we were having a boy to only have our excitement taken down a notch with the fear something was wrong with our baby.  We went to high risk to find out there was no amnio band, but there was a spot on his liver they needed to watch and they thought something was wrong with his septum on his heart.  Luckily by 32 weeks I was released because everything turned out to be fine.  It was just nice yesterday to hear only good news about our baby.

After seeing him on the ultrasound I am so much more excited and cannot wait for July to get here so we can meet this little baby and hold him.  We showed Bennett the ultrasound pictures and he kept saying "baby" and then said "baby boy".  I showed him a picture of the baby's foot and Bennett kept showing me his foot.  We still cannot come up with a name for the baby yet, but I am not too worried about it.  I know he will have a name by the time we leave the hospital with him :)

No Rest for the Weary

My sweet little Bennett wakes up around 7 every morning and is ready to go!  He wants to eat breakfast and right after he eats he wants to play.  This means I have to be ready to chase him, play cars and trains, or play doh.  If I try to sit down he will come up to me and say "Mommy go, go!! or Come on Mommy!" So I don't get much time to sit and enjoy my coffee in the morning.  Whatever keeps him occupied and happy is what we will play unless it is a school day then we are running around trying to get dressed and out the door.  I am not sleeping all that great at night so I am pretty tired in the morning and keeping up with Bennett all day is taking pretty much every ounce of energy I have.  You would think with how active he keeps me I would be having an easy time keeping the pregnancy weight at a minimum but no the weight is going up and up!

Such a mess!

This morning he was saying "bye bye" to the garbage truck

This weekend was very busy! Friday night we had horrible storms come through our area causing tornado warning after tornado warning and sirens kept going off.  My dad has a nice finished basement so we decided to drop Bennett off with him so he could sleep safely in their basement.  Jeremy and I came home and camped out on our family room floor so we could easily run and take cover when we heard the sirens go off.  We didn't get much sleep and by 3am things cleared up enough so we finally headed up to our bed to get some sleep.  After we picked up Bennett from my dad's house in the morning we came home and Jeremy started painting Bennett's big boy room.  He got the majority of it done. Yesterday Jeremy's parents came over and his dad helped Jeremy finish painting and hang up some things we had for the room.  It looks really good and I am happy with how it is all coming together.  We have a few more things to get for his room but I am not in too much of a hurry.  I think we are planning on putting him in his new room in May that way we have a little over 2 months to get him transitioned and get the nursery ready for the baby.  With all we have going on I have a feeling July will be here before we know it!  I go later in the week for my 20 week checkup and I am looking forward to seeing the baby on the ultrasound.  I am just praying everything is healthy with our little guy!
